A lifelong Westchester County, Town of Cortlandt resident Robert "Bob" Outhouse is a small business owner and a decorated retired Westchester County Police Detective. Bob lives in Croton-on-Hudson with his family. He is committed to the future of Westchester County as a candidate for Westchester County Legislator in District 9 (Briarcliff Manor, Town of Cortlandt, Croton-on-Hudson, Ossining and Peekskill).
A 1982 graduate of Hendrick Hudson High School and a graduate of Manhattan College, Bob holds Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management. He has been volunteering and giving back to his community since the age of 14. A past member of the Peekskill Ambulance Youth Group, Life Member of the Buchanan Engine Company#1 where he served as Chief, President and currently Trustee. Bob is a Charter Member of Cortlandt Community Volunteer Ambulance Corp/Life Member and an active volunteer for Croton EMS as a NYS EMT/Driver. He is an American Heart Association CPR instructor. Bob is also an Associate Member of both Cataract Hose Co, Ossining Fire Department and Hastings-on-Hudson Fire Department at Riverview Manor Hose. Bob spent 10 years as appointee of Governor George Pataki on the New York State Arson Board, and was instrumental in the development and passage of Arson in the 5th degree. He currently holds the title of President of the Westchester County Volunteer Firemen’s Association, Director of Hudson Valley Firemen’s Association, and a member of the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York (FASNY) where he was recently appointed to the Recruitment and Retention Committee. He was recently appointed to the Westchester County Fire Advisory Board by County Executive Rob Astorino. Bob as also found the time while his children were growing to volunteer to the Town of Cortlandt recreation youth girls softball and basketball teams. He also was an assistant coach for Catholic Youth Organization girls Basketball. He is also currently Vice President of the homeowner’s association board of Briarcliff Waterfront Villas.
Bob Outhouse has 23 years of experience as a law enforcement officer in Westchester County. Hired in 1987 as a Police Officer for the Westchester County Department of Public Safety, Bob served as a Patrol Officer and Emergency Services Unit Officer. In 1991 Outhouse was selected to become a member of Hazardous Devices Unit (Bomb Squad). In 1996, Bob was one of two officers selected to the then new K9 Unit as an Explosive Detection Canine Handler with his partner EDC Amy. He is a current member of the International Association of Bomb Tech and Investigators. In 1999 he was promoted to Detective and assigned to the Special Operations Unit, General Investigations Unit and the Warrant Squad Unit until he retired in 2009.
Bob is the co-owner of Excelsior Consultants I, Inc., a small Private Investigating Company with his wife Angela. They have 6 children, 2 finishing up college at SUNY Purchase and one graduate of University of Rhode Island. They have a granddaughter and grandson. His cumulative experience and background make him the perfect candidate for Westchester County Legislator, District 9.
